Individual Details
Elizabeth Walters
( - )
Found in Caswell Marriage Bond records, Elizabeth Walters daughter of Archer Walters. There were several Phelps families living in Caswell at the time - perhaps this is the correct spelling of Joseph's name, or maybe it was Phillips.
Archer "Waters" witnessed a deed from John McAden to Joshua Phelps for a lot in Milton, Caswell Co, NC on 24 Apr 1802. DB M, p.254. Joshua "Phillips" then sold the same lot to Richmond & Samuel on 24 Jan 1803. DB N, p.42
Elizabeth is not listed as a child of Archibald and Edy by Mervin Walters - she was not recorded by the wife of Abner who set down much of the family history. Children given by Mervin are Anderson, Thomas, Asa, Daniel and Lucy. Abner would have been a half-brother to Elizabeth. She cannot be a daughter of the Archibald "Archer" who was a nephew of this Archer as his children were not old enough to be married by 1812 - his first marriage was in October of 1798. Perhaps she remained with the Phelps/Phillips families in North Carolina and never went to Tennessee with the others.
