There is an Elbridge Morrel who served in the Union Army from Missouri, Co. I, 1st Engineers Regt., Missouri Volunteers. He enlisted as a Private, but became Artificer. [skilled mechanic in the military]

As unusual as the name seems to be, there was another Elbridge Gary Morrell, who married a Margaret Reid - he was born 1812 in Maine and may have been an uncle to this Elbridge. Elbridge G. also had a son of the same name, born 1858 in Pike Co, IL.

There is an online database that says Elbridge married a second time to Mahala Green, 21 Jul 1881.
