Enoch Dodson

He married Elizabeth ??? about 1775. Tax lists show his residence in Prince William Co VA in 1782. In 1790 he was in Abbeville Co SC residing near Ft. Ninety-Six. Enoch and family moved to SC between 1782 and 1785. The minutes of Turkey Creek Baptist Church organized in 1785, shows Enoch as a member and Elizabeth baptized on 7 Sep 1786.
That this is the same Enoch Dodson has been proved by the name of the slave, Forrester, who was named in the will of Abraham Dodson, his son Greenham, and then in the sale of the property of Enoch in Abbeville Co SC in 1816.

Enoch Dodson appears in the 1790 Census as a resident of Abbeville District near Fort Ninety-six.

5 Nov 1798. Enoch dodson granted 261 acres in District of Ninety-six, Abbeville County, on the head waters of Bushy Creek of Saluda River. (SC Grants 44, 292; Vol. 37, 133).

To beloved wife Elizabeth all worldly goods ...after her death divided equally between children: Nancy Barmore, William Dodson, Jas. Dodson, Lucy Barmore; Malinda Agnew; Polly Dodson; and Mahley Dodson.
Executors: wife Elizabeth, son William Dodson and Samuel Agnew. (Abbeville Will Book 2, p.12)
Died 12 Apr 1816.
Inventory & Appraisment, 18 May 1816 included 4 slaves, and 266 acres. Sale was 31 Oct 1816. William Dodson purchased the slave Forester, other items. 6 Sep 1823 - a supplemental sale was held - perhaps after the death of Elizabeth. Final report, signed by Samuel Agnew, 1 Mar 1824.
