Mrs. Moorman's Funeral is Today.
Mrs. Mary Walters Moorman, 93, wife of the late W. A. Moorman, died in Memorial Hospital yesterday at 11:00 a.m. after an illness of three weeks.
She was born June 28, 1867, at 127 S. Main St. and was the daughter of the late Captain (Confederate Army) Robert A. Walters and Mrs. Ann Redd Walters. In 1883 she was married to Mr. Moorman.
Mrs. Moorman lived at 127 S. Main most of her life except for a number of years that she lived with her daughter, the late Mrs. N. C. Jones. At the time of her death, she was making her residence with her son-in-law, Dr. N. C. Jones. She has been a life long member of Main Street Methodist church and was one of the oldest living members.
Mrs. Moorman had been an active member of both the Dorothea Henry Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Anne Eliza Johns Chapter of the Virginia Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. W. L. Cooper who is living at the Sunnyside Presbyterian Home in Harrisonburt; two granddaughters, Mrs. Robert B. Wooding of Danville and Mrs. W. R. S. Curtis of Petersburg; her son-in-law, Dr. N. C. Jones of Danville, and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 4 o'clock from Townes Memorial Chapel and interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
The family will be at the residence of her granddaughter, Mrs. R. B. Wooding, 318 Linden Drive.
