Naomi Niles

(Abt 1682 - 1761)

"The Comstock Family in America" says that the parents of Naomi Noyes/Niles/Nyles were Benjamin and Ruth Niles. If instead, as sometimes found, she really was instead the daughter of Rev. Moses Noyes and Ruth Pickett, then Naomi is a Mayflower descendant: 1) William Brewster (of the Mayflower) 2) Jonathan Brewster 3) Ruth (Brewster) Pickett 4) Ruth (Pickett) Noyes 5) Naomi (Noyes) Comstock
[However, the Niles and Tiffany families were early Block Island settlers and associated families for several generations. Since Naomi Comstock, daughter of William and Naomi married Consider Tiffany, I would tend to believe that Benjamin Niles as her father is correct.]
Barbour Collection for Lyme: NILES, Neomy, d. Benj[amin], m. William COMSTOCK, Sept. 10, 1695 (Vol. L-2, p. 10)

Also on 24 Jan 1698, Benjamin Nyles deeded William Comstock of Lyme 5 acres of meadow in Lyme, called Briggs' meadow. A Comstock Genealogy: Descendants of William Comstock of New London, Conn. 1907

Benjamin Nyles estate was distributed 7 Oct 1712 by his sons-in-law: Ebenezer Coleman, William Comstock, John Reed, and Jonathan Kellogg Jr. "John Niles of Braintree, Mass, and Some of His Descendants" New England Historical & Genealogical Register, Volume 85, Apr 1931.

Often Moses Noyes (1643 - 1729) of Lyme, Conn., is given as the father of
Naomi Noyes/Niles/Nyles (ca. 1676 - 1761), who married William Comstock.
However, the evidence suggests this is an error. Instead Benjamin Niles
(1650/5 - 1712), son of John and Jane Niles, was Naomi's father.
Barbour Collection for Lyme: NILES, Neomy, d. Benj[amin], m. William
COMSTOCK, Sept. 10, 1695 (Vol. L-2, p. 10).
The will of Moses Noyes of Lyme, Conn., dated Aug. 19, 1719, does not
mention a daughter Naomi even though she was living there at the time.
A History and Genealogy of the Comstock Family in America, by John Adams
Comstock, says Naomi was the daughter of Benjamin and Ruth Noyes (sometimes written Nyles or Niles).
On 24 January 1698/9 Benjamin Nyles deeded William Comstock of Lyme five
acres of meadow in Lyme, called Briggs' meadow. (Cyrus B. Comstock, A
Comstock Genealogy: Descendants of William Comstock of New London, Conn.,
Who Died After 1662: Ten Generations, New York: Knickerbocker Press, 1907.)

Descendants," New England Historical and Genealogical Register 85 (April
