A fragment of a record in the Albemarle Book of Warrants & Surveys 1681-1706, states a warrant was certified on 7 Feb 1693/4 to Jno. Belman. On 12 Apr 1694, he was entitled to 650 acres for the transportation of 13 persons. A Survey and return for Jno. Belman, for 280 acres was record 16 Oct 1694. Another entry for the same 280 acres to John Belman, planter, Pasquotank Precinct, 1 Jan 1694/95. And another for 314 acres, Pasqutank Precinct on the same date. On 25 Feb, 1696/97 Belman received another 198 acres, Pasquotank, for the transportation of three additional persons.

A table in the Introduction of 1693-1696 North Carolina Land Patents:
John Belman: 280A, Albemarle Sound

CD "Genealogical Records: Early NC Settlers 1700s-1900s" Rent Rolls of Albemarle County prior to 1700: John Belman, Sound in Pascotank, 280 acres; John Belman, Pascotank, 314 acres; John Belman, Pascotank, 198 acres.

John Belman's children are listed in the records of Pasquotank Monthly Meeting. The dates of the births were Quaker dates would be Old Style dating with the 1st month beginning in March.. The New Style was accepted after the meeting on the 5th of the 4th month, 1752. The dates were given numerically, i.e. 6-28-1688 which does not transfer well - this would actually be the 28th of August, not June - but are transcribed as found.

The following child does NOT appear in the Quaker records with the other children and the location is puzzling. In 1680, Berkeley County replaced the name of Perquimans but was changed back in 1681. She was been assumed by some to be "Hannah".
