Sylvester Gabbard 1866-1974 (sic - 1954)
Sylvester Gabbard, 88, died at his home near Cass Tuesday at 1:20 p.m. and his funeral service will be held at the Greer Funeral chapel here Saturday at 2 p.m. with burial at Morgan cemetery near Fly Gap.
A native of Kentucky, Mr. Gabbard was born July 28, 1866 and had lived in this section for many years. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; two sons; John of Waterloo, Ia., and Ben of Ojai, Ca.; four daughters, Mrs. Eva Elam of Fayettevile, Mrs. Nancy Ann Davis of Chelan Falls, Wash., Mrs. Mae Davis of Elkins, Mrs. Rachel Newton of Cass; four brothers, George of Oklahoma, and Jim and Louis of Elkins, and Tom of Stilwell, Ok.; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Stevens of Fayetteville and Mrs. Nancy Black of Garfield; 28 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
