James Newton Partain

In 1880 James stated that his father was born in NC; his mother in SC. He was listed in Precinct 5 as J. N. Partain, age 29, b. Georgia. Z. B., wife, was age 25, b. Indiana.
There was also in this census in Precinct 4, a J. W. Partain, age 33, and b. Georgia. He stated both his parents born in SC. He is probably the Joel Partain convicted of Perjury in 1883 - see notes of Edwin Wishard.
The 1870 Census gave further evidence that Joel and James Partain might have been brothers.

Hubbard Partain family Bible has pages added to an Ancestry family tree. James Newton Partain was bonr March the 13th, 1851.
1910 Census: James & Belle listed in Census. 7 children born, none living. James' brother Wallace, age 50, was living with them at that time.
1920 Census James is head of the household that includes his wife Belle, nephew Rexie Wishard age 13 and his widowed father Edwin Wishard, and Edwin & Belle's unmarried sister, Emma Wishard.
