John Guymon

(20 Mar 1789 - Bef 1829)

John Guymon's earliest record is the witness to a deed of 10 Mar 1809 in Stokes Co NC when his father Isaiah Guymon sold 100 acres of land to his son Thomas. [Stokes Co DB 5, p.271]

John Guymon married Polly Wright. Lin Flinn was the bondsman. Anna Guymon his sister married Flinn.

John & Mary's oldest son Thomas died in Randolph Co IL, and the death record states that he was born in Cumberland Co KY. Thomas' eldest daughter had a family Bible in which is listed Thomas' birth date as 4 Oct 1817.

John Guymon was in the 1820 census of Monroe Co KY, along with Laughlin Flinn who was married to his sister Anna. Likely they had not moved from Cumberland, but had become part of the new county of Monroe.

Both John Guymon & Laughlin Flinn are on an 1825 tax list for Monroe Co KY.

Daughter Rebecca Guymon married Henry Bradford in Henry Co TN on 6 Jun 1844. There are also indentures in Henry Co for four sons of John & Mary: Thomas, John Wesley, Noah, and James. These indentures were recorded 31 Mar 1834, at Paris Henry Co TN [Court Minutes, Book C, p.165-166]
