Rose Marie Clay

Rose Marie (Clay) Ammons was welcomed to her heavenly home and reunited with her loved ones on February 19, 2017. She was born in Fairview, OK on January 29, 1939 to Webster and Marie (Vickers) Clay.
She lived most of her life in Boswell, OK where she graduated from school and began a 42-year career at Boswell State Bank until her retirement in 2001. Rose married the love of her life, Lee Roy Ammons, on January 26, 1988. They thoroughly enjoyed hosting family gatherings, watching and cheering for the OU Sooners, spending time on their various business ventures, and traveling around the country until his death in 2006.
During her time in Boswell, Rose was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher and Church Treasurer for many years. After relocating to Durant she joined First Baptist Church where she attended until her health declined. Attending church and listening to the choir was one of her greatest joys in life. Another of her great joys was her nieces and nephews, whom she thought of as her own children.
Rose is survived by brothers Ronald Clay, Paris, TX and John Clay and wife Jackie, Durant, OK; nieces and nephews Linda Young and husband George, Fort Worth, TX, Janet Partridge and husband Joey, Powderly, TX, Steven Clay and wife Missy, Prosper, TX, Lisa Long and husband Kendall, Durant, OK, Suzanne Anteau and husband Doug, Burleson, TX, and Kyle Clay, Celina, TX; great-nieces and nephews George Young III and Catherine Young, Fort Worth, TX, Lauren Partridge, Dallas, TX, Emily Partridge, Powderly, TX, and Abbie and Bodie Clay, Prosper, TX, Jared Long and fiancé Lacy Mays, Durant, OK, Travis Anteau, Fayetteville, AR, Jackson and Hudson Clay, Celina, TX and great-great niece Sydney Long, Durant, OK.
She is also survived by step-children Diana Clark and husband Ron, Garland, TX, Steve Ammons and wife Sheila, Pottsboro, TX, and Dr. Greg Ammons and wife Lisa, Wylie, TX and step-grandchildren Dustin Clark and wife Anna, Garland, TX, Brandon Clark and wife Melissa, Murphy, TX, Shane Ammons and wife Autumn, Durant, OK, Spencer Ammons and wife Chelsea, Little Elm, TX, and Camden Ammons, Wylie, TX, as well as step-great-grandchildren Eva and Matthew Clark, Ethan and Aidan Clark, and Kinsler and Jemma Ammons.
Preceding Rose in death were parents Webster and Marie Clay, husband Lee Roy, sister-in-law Joann Clay, and great-nephew Anson Clay.
A church service will be at the First Baptist Church Durant on Thursday, February 23, at 10:00 am, officiated by Brother James Robinson. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Boswell at 1:30 pm.
