James was born 10 Oct 1835, died 4 Apr 1912. He apparently had a second wife, there is another stone at Kosciusko Cemetery for Ella Blake Hammond, born 1928, with no death date, but the stone says "wife of J. T. Hammond" and also notes she was born Kershaw Dist., SC
