John Maurice "Jack" Haden

Jack Haden Long time Austinite, Jack Haden, died December 9, 2006 after a 5 month fight with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda, their children Rita Jane, and Tony and his wife Kristin and grandchildren Grant, Brett, and Megan, along with his parents John and Merle of Bedford, brother Tom and his family, sister Mary Ann and her family. Other survivors include his father in law and his wife, his mother in law, brother and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins from around the country. Jack spent his time helping Keep Austin Weird whenever he could. He worked as a filmmaker, video producer, and journalist. He worked as a press secretary for NASA, State Comptroller Bob Bullock and state Senator Hector Uribe. He produced video programs on the environment and story segments for C-SPAN, The NBC Nightly News and The Today Show. He lived a charmed life that took him and Linda on career moves to Los Angeles, where he pioneered music video with Leon Russell's ShelterVision, and on to Las Vegas and New York City before returning to Austin to raise their family. The family would like to thank all the wonderful medical professionals who have assisted us through this transition. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take someone you love out to dinner at a locally owned and operated restaurant. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 1:00 at Cook-Walden Capital Parks in Pflugerville, Texas.
