Charles Smith was an EnsigN 6 Jan 1756 and later a Captain in the Colonial Service. He was with Washington at Braddock's defeat and Great Meadows where he lost his left hand.
He was a member of the first court of justice of Frederick Cty, which convened 6 Aug 1776 but didn't make it; he died from his wound before the session convened.
