In Campbells Chronicles this John is reported to have been the 7th child of William Venable, another son of Abraham & Elizabeth Lewis.
In 1784 the estate of Thomas Faland sold to John Venable, 300 acres which had been conveyed to Faland by Lady Mary Read, both sides of Seneca Creek.
In 1786, John Venable along with William Martin, Jonathan Rosser, & Griffin Lewis, was appointed inspector of tobacco at Lynches Ferry.
The Venables moved to Georgia in 1791.
