Moved with other Higginbothams families to East Feliciana Parish LA ca 1810. Willis, his brother Lindsey, and cousins, served in the 10th & 20th Consolidated Regt., Louisiana Militia, War of 1812. Journeyed back to Amherst Co VA to represent his family in the settlement of his grandmother's estate. Moved to Indian lands near Springdale, Mississippi near his brother Lindsey ca 1835. Lafayette Co was formed in 1836 from the Chicksaw Cession and he acquired several hundred acres of land.
