Individual Details

Michael Gabbert

(Abt 1766 - 1835)

Michael was a bit too young to serve legally in the Revolution, yet there is some evidence in his brothers' pension files that indicates he might have served. He didn't apply for a pension. After the war he moved to East Tennesse with other members of the family. About 1790 he married Elizabeth Brown in Shady Valley of Sullivan Co. Already living in this area were his brother George on Doe Creek, brother Jacob, and brother-in-law Philip Irion. Several of their children were likely born in Tennessee. By 1798 Michael Sr and Michael Jr were both on the tax rolls of Washington Co Virginia; Michael could have been listed as early as 1795. By 1809 he had left Virginia.

Michael and Elizabeth later settled in Cumberland Co KY. They are on the 1810 Census there.
