I was not sure whose land grant this was when I ordered it, but the survey seems to insure this land belonged to Henry's son Jacob. Henry's half brother Jacob also had a son named Jacob - both sometimes referred to as Jacob Jr.
Clay County, KY, Court Order for Survey, 50 acres, Jacob Gabbard. For vacant & unappropriated land in Clay Co to begin at the southwestern corner of Henry Gabbard's land. Said Gabbard to pay at the rate of $5 per 100 acres.
Survey, 21 Dec 1837. For Jacob Gabbard Junr, 50 acres on Indian Creek waters of the South Fork of the Kentucky river. Begin two beeches, sugar tree & dogwood upper corner to a 50 acres Survey made in the name of Henry Gabbard.....

19 Jul 1899 Jacob Gabbard, the oldest man in Owsley County, now 86 years old, is enjoying good health, but is failing in strength. He says he is ready to go when the time comes.
11 Apr 1900 Jacob Gabbard who is the oldest man probably now living in Owsley Co is very ill. He has been sick at the home of his daughter Margaret Moore.
18 Apr 1900 Jacob Gabbard, the oldest man in this vicinity died Saturday night. He was in his eighty seventh year, being born in Washington Co VA on 22 Aug 1813. He was one of the first settlers of this neighborhood and always recommended as one of the best citizens, being kind to everyone he might meet. The deceased was married to Miss Elizabeth Wood who died 14 Jul 1893. He had been ill only about two weeks before the Lord came and relieved him of his suffering, though he was always ready to go whenever he might be called. He leaves five children, a large number of grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn his loss. The body was laid to rest in the family grave yard where he lived the most of his life.
