Nancy Jeanette Fanshier was born in Cass County, Ill., March 19, 1863, and died March 13, 1922, at her home near Garfield, at the age of 58 years, 11 months and 24 days. At an early age, she became a member of the Christian church, later transferring her membership to the Congregational Church of Great Bend. She was united in marriage to Moses L. Bertram in July, 1886, who died March 25, 1895, leaving her and four sons, one of whom passed away in 1904.
She was again united in marriage to Wm. Barger, July 23, 1899. To this union were born two sons, Troy, at home, one preceding her in his infancy. She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, Wm. Barger, three sons by the first union, Walter Bertram of Great Bend, Roy Bertram of Baker, Oregon, and Chas. Bertram of Seward, Kan., stepmother, Mrs. J.C. Fanshier, also of Seward. Troy Barger, a son of the later marriage; also her following step-children: Mrs. Herman Lutschg of Colorado, Mrs. Otis Evers of Great Bend, W.A. Barger of Garfield, John Barger of Larned, Cecil and Ray Barger at home; three brothers and two sisters, and a number of other relatives. Those present at her bedside at the time of her death were her husband, stepmother, son Troy, Charles, wife and children and Roy. The funeral will be at Great Bend in the Congregational church Thursday, at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Great Bend cemetery.
