When Jacob Rector was born, Germantown was in Stafford, but by the time James was born it had become Prince William Co; then in 1759, germantown became part of Fauquier Co.

Served in the Revolution at Yorktown. Applied for a pension 19 May 1834 in Lincoln Co MO, but was denied as he could not prove six months service.

His wife was probably Leannah Warren. Three children: Elizabeth, Bennett & Warren were born at Germantown. In 1786 they moved to Rowan Co NC along with his father and two of his brothers. Leona/Leanah & Nancy, daughters, were born there. About 1791, they moved back to Virginia - Grayson Co - where the last three children, Mary, Jacob & Molly were born. In 1807 they moved to Washington Co VA and about 4 years later on to Wayne Co KY. The date of the move to Missouri is unknown but there are indications that son Jacob was in MO by 1818.
