Hello Kay:
I have recently found your web site. Actually it was given to me by a Wishart I've been corresponding with. I'm researching Wishard/Wishart and I have a question. I have all of the Wishard information, as controversial as it is! I, and many others, are looking for Thomas Jefferson Brown, born Aug. 10, 1805. He was married to Susannah Lytle Wishard on March 6, 1828. He died July 26, 1855 in Bourbon, KY. That is all the information there appears to be. I'm wondering if you have run across anything on him? I have looked everywhere I can think of, as have my relatives.

I believe I found this family in 1850, living in Helts Township, Vermillion Co, Indiana, Household 488. I think it may be your family but it would need further investigation to confirm.
Thomas J. Brown, age 45, [b. 1805] born in KY.
Susanah, age 43 [b. 1807] born in KY.
Young people, presumable their children, all born in IN - would explain why they cannot be found in KY
Margaret J. age 21. Samuel M/W age 20. Robert B. age 17. William O. age 15. Florance A. age 13. Joseph H. age 11.
cont. next page: Susanah age 8. Annis age 5 [indexed wrong, but this is such a Wishard given name!], and Thomas J. age 3.

By 1830, several members of Susannah's family was living in Vermillion Co, IN.

Although difficult to read, I believe Thomas J. Brown is listed immediately below Samuel & John Wishard in Vermillion Co. [image 51 on Ancestry]

1840 Census. Vermillion Co, IN
One Thomas Brown was age 50-60, too old.
Another Thos. Brown, lived in Vermillion Twp of Vermillion Co.
1m under 5, 1m 5-10, 1m 15-20, 1m 30-40 [Thomas J. would have been about 35]
1f under 5, 2f 5-10, 1f 20-30.
I believe this would be Susannah and family.

By 1860, I found in Vermillion Co, IN, Helt Twp, Hh #322
William O. Brown, age 26 with Leaner L. age 24 - he had apparently married.
Next door, living with the Watson C. Randall family - the wife is Margaret, age 31, and could be Margaret J. Brown who was age 21 in 1850 - is Annis Brown, age 15. The Randall children are Thomas J. age 7 and Mary A. age 2.
I have not yet found others in the family. Perhaps Susannah also died prior to 1860, or could she have remarried?
