George Benskin Poindexter
(26 Aug 1739 - 1810)
George's birth recorded in the St. Peter's Parish vestry in August of 1739, would make it impossible that his father was the George Poindexter recorded there as dying in July of 1738. The records make plain that two previous Georges had died in 1692 and 1716. This is one of the reason that he is judged to be the 5th George Poindexter. Also a George with wife Susannah, parents of George B. indicate that there was a mature George Poindexter living there after 1738 and before any of his children reached age 21.
George B. Poindexter recorded the dates of his marriages and the births of his children in the Parish Register on 18 May 1790; stated himself to be in his 51st year of his age.
New Kent Co Dec Court 1785. George Benskin Poindexter formerly recommended as surveyor of this county ...resigned his said recommendation ...Edwin Poindexter is by the court recommended. Test: William Clayton
New Kent Co Court 14 Apr 1785 George Benskin Poindexter, among others, recommended to be added to the Commission of the peace for this county.
