General William Woodford
(6 Oct 1734 - 1780)
Served as a soldier in the French and Indian war. Was colonel of the 2nd Regt of VA volunteers in the Revolution and was a hero of the battle of Great Bridge. Was made general of the 1st brigade. Wounded at Brandywine. Taken prisoner at the siege of Charleston. Died in a British prison.
