Joseph Brackin

Said to be the son of Samuel Brackin, b. 1742, New Castle Co, Delaware, died 1812, Caswell Co NC. His mother was Martha Ector - they married about 1766. Samuel married a second time, 29 Oct 1799, to Rebecca Reed, in Caswell Co NC, by whom he had three more daughters.

Joseph married first Sinna Womack, 28 Jan 1795. Sinna was the daughter of Abraham Womack who died in Caswell Co, 6 May 1800. Here is his will which names his daughter as Sinah Brackin:

p.299 Sale of estate of Samuel Bracken on 13 May 1812. Buyers included Rebeccah, John, and Joseph Brackin.

Joseph and first wife Sinna possibly had at least one daughter. Sinah Brackin married Robert Dixon [Joseph's step-son] in Caswell Co NC on 17 Dec 1823. Sinah may have been named for Joseph's half-sister, or this may even BE the half-sister, as I believe she was born 13 Jan 1801.

From Guardian Book A, folio 132: Joseph Brackin was appointed guardian & gave bond for Patsy and Robert Dixon, heirs of Robert Dixon deceased, in 1807. He has received nothing as yet although he states there is some land in Tennesee, quantity unknown. 17 Jan 1808.

Guardian Accounts, p.298, 1815. John Brackin was guardian of Sina Brackin [I suspect Sinah/Sina was a younger half-sister, perhaps not a daughter to Joseph.]
