Roger Williams
(Abt 1603 - Bef Apr 1683)
Founder of the Province Rhode Island. Sailed from Bristol 1 Dec 1630 on the "Lyon" and arrived at Boston 5 Feb 1631. Lived at Salem and in Plymouth Colony for the next 4 years but in Oct of 1635 he was ordered to leave the Colony. He settled at Providence in June of 1636. In 1643 he went to England and obtained a charter for Rhode Island
"Genealogical Register of the 1st Settlers of New England" says that Roger was born in Wales 1599, educated at Oxford.
