Mrs. Alice Smith, wife of Simon Smith, 74 years old, died at Van Wert, Ohio, Saturday. She formerly lived near Vandalia.
She is survived by her husband and children and one brother, W. A. Crosby.
The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from Robert Riesinger's chapel, 1856 West Third Street. Burial will be a Greencastle cemetery.

Was Resident of Van Wert and Vandalia for Many Years
Funderal services for Mrs. Alice Smith, wife of Simon Smith, who died at her home in Van Wert, Saturday, are to be held at the funeral parlor of Robert Riesinger, 1845 W. Third St, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will be in Greencastle cemetery,
Mrs. Smith, who had been a resident of Van Wert and Vandalia for many years, had been in ill health for several months. Besides her husband and several children, a brother, W. A. Crosby of Dayton, survives.

OBITUARY
Mrs. Alice Smith, a former resident of Lawrenceville, died at her home in Van Wert, Ohio, Jan. 12, 1923, at the age of 72 years, 11 months and 10 days. Her maiden name was Alice Crosby and she was born at Springboro, Ohio, 2 Feb 1850. She was united in marriage with Edwin Simon Smith, Oct.21, 1869, at Dayton, Ohio, and to them ten children were born, three dying in infancy and an only daughter, Mrs. Mattie Dixon, dying april 4, 1919, at Ft. Smith, Ark.
Deceased is survived by her husband and six sons - Albert of Louisville, KY; Rollo of Kobel, Ark.; William of St. Johns, Mich.; Walter, of Franklin, O.; Harry and Warren, of VanWert. Fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one brother, W. A. Crosby, of Dayton, O., also survive her.
She had been afflicted for several years and bore her sufferings with a cheerful, optomistic spirit which won the adminration of all who knew her. The mother of Mrs. Smith was a Quaker and she was brought up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord as held by the Quaker church.
Funeral services were held at the family home in VanWert on Monday, Jan. 15, at 3:30, after which the body was laid to rest in the Greencastle cemetery at Dayton, O.
