Funeral services for Stelaa Martin Mead, 92, of Sulphur Springs were held at 1 pm Tuesday, March 10, in West Oaks Funeral Chapel with the Rev. W. Fred Lewis officiating.
Burial was in Sulpher Springs City Cemetery....
Mrs. Mead died at 10:20 pm Friday, March 6, in Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 24, 1905, in Hopkins County, the daughter of Robert G. "Bob" and Ollie Dixon Martin. She married Clyde Mead on March 21, 1927, in Paris. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1986.
Mrs. Mead was educated in Hopkins County schools. She and her husband were former longtime merchants in the Dike and Peerless communities of Hopkins County before retiring to become involved in ranching. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Sulphur Springs.
Survivors includ a daughter Jan Mead Morris of Dallas, a grandaughter, Marilyn Morris Goldberg of Los Angeles, Calif., and two great grandchildren, Ashley and Sean Goldberg.
