The Duckworth genealogy as found online is full of contradictions and conflicts. The following is what I've found to have the most support and be the most reasonable. It is primarily from the WorldConnect file of Dr. J. B. Turner, updated Jan 2008.

Jacob Duckworth lived on the Deep River in North Carolina, along with his parents Joseph & Esther and a brother Joseph Duckworth Jr.

The tax records of Cumberland Co NC show Capt. Jacob Duckworth's District. The description of that district in 1777 was along the Deep River below the Horseshoe and along McLendon's Creek. A Jan. 1779 list is of the insolvents allowed by the court in Capt Jacob Duckworth's district for 1777 and 1778. In Jan. 1781, William Rand was ordered to make a Return of Capt Jacob Duckworth's District.

In 1783, Moore Co was formed out of Cumberland, a part which included the area along the Deep River. A Joseph Duckworth is found in the Moore Co NC Census in 1790, probably Jacob's brother

About 1782, Jacob moved his family to Anson Co NC where he died sometime before 1792. The widow Charity and her children moved to Pendleton District SC.

1792, Anson Co NC Charity Duckworth bought land from Richard Odom which she sold to Mr. Buckhannan in 1798.

23 Mar 1795. Benjamin Duckworth of Anson Co NC bought 200 acres on Big Beaverdam Creek of Rocky River, Pendleton Dist SC from Henry Purdy. Witnesses were Thomas Martin [who married Hester Duckworth] and Barnabas Fair.
When I looked up this deed, it did not give Benjamin Duckworth's former residence:

The 1800 Census of Pendleton Dist SC lists the following:
Benj. Ducksworth: 2m under 10, 1m 10-16, 1m 16-26, 1m 26-45. 2f under 10, 1f 16-26.
Charity Ducksworth: 2m 10-16, 2m 16-26. 1f over age 45
There is also a Joseph "Ducks" in Pendleton in 1800; He had 2m -10, 1m 10-16, 1m 26-45. 2f -10, 1f 10-16, 1f 16-26, 1f 26-45. Since he lived next door to Roger "Murphree" this is in all likelihood, Joseph Duckworth.


3 Aug 1803 Thomas Adams sold Roger Murphy 50 acres on Little Beaverdam Creek of the Rocky River. The witnesses were: Joseph Duckworth, Obadiah Duckworth. Joseph proved the deed on 12 Mar 1804

p.260 Geo. Duckworth, 1m 26-45. 2f under 10, 1f 16-26. [Unidentified, probably one of the eldest sons of Benjamin or Joseph.]

The identity of Jacob and Charity Duckworth's children are no longer in question - they have been found at last. In 1818 Joseph Duckworth died in Moore Co NC. He was the brother of Captain Jacob Duckworth and in his Will he left his estate to his wife Hannah and to the children of his deceased brothers Jacob and Jeremiah Duckworth. Email from Wayne Taylor

The last Will & testament of Joseph Duckworth left all his estate both real and personal to his widow the said Hannah Duckworth during her natural life , and that the Estate both real and personal descends now to the next of kin and heirs at Law of said Joseph Duckworth at the death of Hannah Duckworth who has since died, whereby all the further executing of said Will devolves in Law upon the said Bryan Boroughs And whereas It is supposed that the Children of Jacob and Jeremiah Ducksworth who were Brothers of the said Joseph Duckworth are the lawful representations of Jeremiah Duckworth and Jacob Duckworth being deceased.

Representatives of Jacob Duckworth, your petitioner further by their amended answer show that Jacob Duckworth the Brother of Joseph Duckworth the Testator died and as your petitioners have understood by report left the following children ( Towit ) Joseph , Benjamin, Jacob, Howard,Obediah,George, William, Hester married a Martin, Charity Married a keys, Sarah Married a Rodgers and Keziah married a Bryant.

I further find that the said Joseph Duckworth had two Brothers Jacob Duckworth & Jeremiah Duckworth and no other Brothers or Sisters, and that Jacob Duckworth departed this life leaving the following children, Benjamin Duckworth, Joseph Duckworth,Jacob Duckworth, Howard Duckworth, Obediah Duckworth, George Duckworth, William Duckworth, Hester Martin, Charity Keys, Sarah Rodgers, Keziah Bryant

The Condition the above obligation is such that whereas Thomas Duckworth has this day received of Bryan Borough the sum of five hundred and eight dollars and eighty three cents it being in full of the distributive share of Joseph Duckworth estate which you to the following distribution Joshua Keys and Charity his wife, William Duckworth and Patrick Duckworth for whom the said Thomas Duckworth acts as attorney in fact now in case there shall no other claim arise or hereafter come forward and in case that the said - Thomas Duckworth is lawfully entitled to receive and receipt for the above sum of five hundred and eight Dollars and eighty of three cents and further in case the said Thomas Duckworth he shall well and truly and faithfully save and the said Bryan Boroughs against all such claims as hereafter may arise in consequence of the said Bryan Boroughs having paid over the said sum of money to him the said Thomas Duckworth then the above obligation to be void other wise to be and remain in full force and Virtue Signed Sealed and delivered ⎬ In presence of Thomas Duckworth,James Carnes
