William West Walters
(17 Jan 1805 - 1855)
William married Penelope Healds. Some have her maiden name as "Healds" but the owner of the "Lewis Family Bible" told me it is written there as "Fealds" and Lucy Walters said her father (J.V. Walters, oldest son of Penelope) told her it was FIELD.

Son of Jackson Walters and his 2nd wife, Polly West Herring. Husband of Penelope Field. Father of James Volney Walters, Nancy Jean Walters Bailey Pennington Tucker, Mary Ann Walters Culbertson, Voltaire Q. "Dock" Walters, Stanford Edwin "Dick" Walters, Sarah Louisa Walters Culbertson, and William Lewis Walters. 2nd Husband of Ruth Ann Gainey Richardson of Benton County, MO. According to a 1904 letter from Dr. J. Wade Gardner of St. Clair Co. MO, William ended his own life sometime around 1855 (suicide by hanging), in St. Clair County, MO. His burial place is believed to be Horn Cemetery in St. Clair Co MO. Update: William West Walters' Estate papers include a receipt for a bequest for one of his sons dated December 1855, thus his death took place before that date. His death was also written about in "The Turnbo Manuscripts" gathered by Silas Turnbo, although it includes a couple of inconsistencies.
