James Washington Harley

(1815 - Bet 1860 and 1870)

I was given the name of Margaret Lawson's husband as George Washington Harley, but I believe the census records prove his name was James Washington Harley.

In 1840, the only Harley in Jackson Co TN was a James W. Harley.
His houshold: 1m -5, 1m 20-30; 1f -5, 1f 20-30.

James apparently died prior to 1870.

Marg E. Harley, age 64, mother-in-law, marked as "helpless, fever disease". b. in TN, parents b. in VA. [She has been indexed as Mary and the name is faded but given the other information I believe this is indeed Margaret. And if this is her daughter Elizabeth who was age 3 in 1860, Elizabeth was in 1880 only about age 17.]
