Sand Springs, Nov. 5 - Services for John Warren Hopkins, long-time Sand Springs grocer, will be at 10:30 am Wednesday in the Olivet Baptist Church at Bruner Station.
Mr. Hopkins, 65, died at his home, 31 S. 65th W. Ave., late Sunday after a long illness. He had owned a store at Bruner Station since 1930.
....Suvivors includet the widow, Helen Jane of the home; a son Harold Dean Hopkins, Sand Springs: four daughters.
Harold Dean Hopkins Sr. , 81, of Sapulpa, passed from this life and into the presence of his Lord on Friday, April 2, 2010 in Sapulpa. Harold was born in Cushing, Oklahoma on August 13, 1928, the only boy out of six children born to John Warren Hopkins and Helen Jane (Armstrong) Hopkins. He grew up in the Bruner Hill area where his parents owned and operated Hopkins Grocery Store. Harold was a life-long member of Olivet Baptist Church. He and Billye Jean Lockhart were married at his dad's bedside in his parent's home in Tulsa on February 14, 1949 and had enjoyed sixty-one years of marriage prior to Harold's death. He worked for many years for National Tank Company as a steel worker and later worked for Waner Corporation.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that you consider making a contribution to the Building Fund of Olivet Baptist Church, 155 N 65th W Ave, Tulsa, OK 74127. With his long association with that church, a gift would be a nice tribute in his honor.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 3rd from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, April 4th from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Monday, April 5th from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Olivet Baptist Church with Reverend Scott Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park in Sand Springs under the direction of Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service. Harold's grandchildren are Michael Dean Hopkins, Bradley James Pitts, Lindsay Michelle crutchfield, John Matthew Hopkins, Julie DeAnn Cockran, Jeannie Lin David, Lezlie Megan Robbins, Christin Ann Lowrance, Buddy Lee Matney, Travis Wade Matney and Benjamin Seth Ludiker, as well as 14 great-grandchildren with two more on the way. He is also survived by one sister, Anna Mae Jayes of Sapulpa...
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sister, LaVerne Hopkins, Helen Sue Schoeffler, Velma Fay Kidd and Autumn Hopkins as well as one grandson, Rodney Dwayne Matney.
