Individual Details
Griffin Pippin
(1801 - 1863)
Griffin fought in the Creek War in Capt Wilson's Co, Hardee's Battalion, 88th Regt of the GA Militia in 1836. His first wife's name is unknown - they had one son, Griffin Lambert Pippin.
An 1850 Census in Walton Co, FL is possibly this first wife. Hh 85 is: Lenza Pippen, age 45, b. NC, with Malinda, age 30, b. NC and Griffin, age 17, b. GA. A marriage database cites the following:
Griffith Lambert Pippins, b. 1804 in NC, married Leiza, 1819 in NC - this has NO documentation and is doubtful as Griffith would have been only 15 and very young for a male to marry in this time period - it is likely this has been "created" to justify the age of Malinda, who would have been born when the couple was 15-16 years old and 13 years betweeen children Malinda and Griffin would be highly unusual when there was no birth control.
Griffin married (2) Ramatha Gillead King on 3 May 1838 in Early Co GA. They had ten children: Ann, Solomon, Henry, Peter, Elias, William, John, Daniel, Dicy & Lavinia. The family is in the 1840 census in Walton Co FL, next to Griffin's nephew Ennes, son of Solomon III. In 1850, this part of Walton Co had become Washington Co FL. They were still in Washington Co in 1860 and 1870. Griffin is listed as a Walton Co FL pioneer in the Florida Pioneer Descendant Committee Listing.

and in Hh 86, in between Lenza and Griffin and in the household of Angue McDaniel, is Mary Pippin, 16, b. FL - possibly a child of the first marriage.
Griffin died in 1863; Ramatha died after 1880. They are buried Tiller Cemetery, Vernon, Washington Co FL.
