There are a couple of corrections to the posting I made April 8, 2001. J o hn Abell's first wife was ____Fisher, daughter of Edward Fisher. She w a sn't Mary Usher. 5/13/1714: Admin. accts. of Edward Fisher, SMC. Pay m ents to: John Abell for his wife (unnamed, a child's part); Thomas Bat s on for his wife (unnamed, a child's part), Adm., Wm. Thompson (Skinner ) . The estate was paid by John Taylor. The estate made payments to (i n a ddition to the children): David Watson, Mr. Henry Lowe, and Thomas P r ice. His second wife was Frances Wilkinson, daughter of William Wilki n son and his wife, Catherine. There is no proof that I've found that C a therine's surname was Stone. This from my notes under Mary Usher: Th e re are those who claim that Mary Usher, daughter of Thomas Usher, was t h e wife of John Abell based on a land record which named Mary, wife of J o hn Abell, in 1715. This won't work as Mary was named as a minor in he r f ather's will in 1714. She was not old enough to have married John A be ll and have had 3 children by 1715. The wife of John Abell of SMC wa s _ ___ FISHER, daughter of Edward Fisher. Tom Jennings and I disagree a n d Tom cites this record below: PATENTS E.I.#1 f363-365 1734 Kent Co. , M d. Land in Kent Co. which Thomas Usher left to his son, George & his d a u. MARY, WIFE OF JOHN ABELL who sold her 55 acres to Thomas Morsoll. ( N ote to me from Tom Jennings, 1/17/2004). The exact date of this paten t i sn't given and I know that Robert Hutchins (former husband of France s) h ad died before May 20, 1734 (the probate date of his will). Admin. a c cts. of Robert Hutchins 7/2/1734 and 9/16/1734; appraisers were Charle s K ing and Jonathan Abell; next of kin was Aquilla Hutchins and James W il kinson; Exec., Frances Hutchins (Skinner). 12/16/1735: Admin. accts . o f Robert Hutchins, SMC.
