John Adkins

(1798 - )

As told by Golza Adkins in the Adkins Pamphlet of 1955, John was killed by a group of horse thieves sometime during the Civil War at the mouth of the Fez Creek. He along with brother Goldsberry and son Andrew were attacked after dark with John being instantly killed and Goldsberry carrying a bullet in his neck the rest of his life. Andrew escaped by hiding in the bushes until the horse thieves were gone.
