Notes
Census
The census listed Jessee as an Inn Keeper with personal property of $700.00 and real property valued at $1850.00. Evidently, the Inn was extremely profitable as 10 years later, Jessee was still listed as an Inn Keeper with personal property valued at $2100.00 and real property of $3648.00. This amount would certainly have placed him among the more wealthy of the county. Jessee ran the Inn until his death and then his son Elisha ran it until his death.Endnotes
