He was born Sept. 18, 1925, to James Maron Morphis and Bessie Kirkpatrick Morphis in Chickasaw County. He was retired from the Mississippi State Highway Department. He was of the Baptist faith.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Southern Funeral Chapel with Bro. Steve Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Springs Cemetery. He is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Shurden Morphis, on April 13, 2009; his parents; and his siblings, Darrrell Morphis, Annie Morphis, Maynard Morphis, Mattie Luther, Thomas Morphis, Leo Morphis and Theo Morphis.
