She was born May 30, 1917, in Tamaroa, IL, the daughter of August and Flossie Kirkpatrick Mabus. She married Howard Nevins and he preceded her in death in 1979. Edna was a member of the Palmyra Christian Church for many years. She worked at the state of Illinois Secretary of State and then for Goldblatt's Department Store. Surviving are her son, Stanley "Stan" (wife, Karen) Nevins of Cantrall, IL; a granddaughter, Ashley Nevins, of Champaign, IL; her two sisters, Lorraine (husband, Joe) Biyak of Scottsdale, AZ and Grace Lemons of Sesser, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. Springfield, where visitation will be held from 1:30 PM Tuesday, April 7, 2009, until time of services there at 2:30 PM Tuesday. Rev. Vaughn Beeman will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Palmyra, IL.
