Harry Dean Kirkpatrick was the second child of Arthur W. and Florence (Blackburn) Kirkpatrick. Harry was born at Maryville, Nodaway County, Missouri on 16 December 1895 and died 13 January 1931 at Stillwater, Payne County, Oklahoma. He is buried at Fairlawn Cemetery, Stillwater, Oklahoma. He married Adah Gertrude Smart on 21 August 1917 at Stillwater. She was the daughter of William Thomas and Almeda Lucinda (Pearman) Smart, and was born in Indian Territory (at Stillwater), Oklahoma, 3 June 1898. She died 19 May 1980 at Stillwater and is buried with her husband at the Fairlawn Cemetery in that city.

Harry Dean Kirkpatrick was a mechanic by profession. He had lived at various times in Coffeeville, Kansas, Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His widow lived at Overland, Missouri from 1942 to 1963.

There were five (5) children born of the marriage.
