Ernest Artildus Bayley was born on the Bayley farm near Union in Grant County, Wisconsin, 24 December 1864, son of A. K. Bayley. He was a farmer at Livingston and an organizer and president of the Arthur Cooperative Creamery, Arthur, Wisconsin. He died 2 August 1931 at Platteville, Grant County, Wisconsin and is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery there. He and his wife are Methodists.

On the 1900 U. S. Census of Clifton Town, Grant Co., Wisconsin, Ernest Bayley appears with his wife Gusty, children Vie H., Lee, E. and Ariel R. They also have a servant James Long. Ernest is a farmer. Ernest and Gusty have been married 15 years and parents of 4 children 3 of whom are currently living.

On the 1920 U. S. Census of Livingston Village, Grant Co., Wisconsin Ernest A. Bayley appears with his wife Augusta and son Lee E. Lee is single. Ernest is a farmer and Lee is a repairman at a garage.

On the 1930 U. S. Census of San Antonio Township, Los Angeles Co., California, Ernest A., Augusta and Lee E. appears. Ernest is a farmer and Lee is a real estate salesman. Ernest and Augusta's son Oren/Warren is listed before as O. B.
