Lee Kirk Carr, the second son of Sidney Lee and Lela (Ellis) Carr, was born at Bay City, Matagorda County, Texas, on 1 February 1922. he was married on 31 March 1951 in Bay City to Lilly Elise Richers, daughter of Louis William and Julia Wilhelmina (Letzerich) Richers. Lilly's first husband, Joseph Beverly Lawhon, was killed in action in World War II, leaving her with one son, Joseph Beverly Lawhon, Jr., who was born 21 September 1945 in Bay City, Texas.

During World War II, Lee Carr served with the 95th Fighter Squadron, 82nd Fighter Group, 15th Air Force, based in italy, where he flew fifty combat missions in P-38 fighters. After the war, he became an electrician. His wife Lilly was employed as a secretary. Both are Methodists.

There were three (3) children born of the marriage.
