The Peoria Journal Star, Peoria, Illinois, April 22, 2002, Page: B04: Gertrude S. Taylor, 100, of Roseville died at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 21, 2002, at LaMoine Christian Nursing Home. Born Sept. 18, 1901, in Lennox Township, Warren County, to Edward and Sophronia Jane Elliott Shimmin, she married Howard J. Taylor on June 23, 1932, in Roseville. He died May 3, 1974. Two brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death. Surviving are two nephews, Robert (and Hildred) Conard of Peoria and Wayne (and Carol) Conard of Cameron, both of whom she raised. She received a bachelor's degree from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. She taught school for several years. She was a member of Roseville Baptist Church and Roseville Order of Eastern Star and was a 60-year member of Chapter N of PEO. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Roseville Cemetery. The Rev. James Oliver will officiate. There will be no visitation. Corman Memorial Home in Roseville is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to LaMoine Christian Nursing Home.
