Hugh Kirkpatrick

Hugh Kirkpatrick, born 31 May 1797, died 11 March 1860. He never married. He graduated at the College of New Jersey, in 1815, and after pursuing the study of Medicine for the prescribed time, he engaged in the practice of his profession as a physician. He was a great favorite with his friends, and familiarly known as "Doctor Hugh." As a token of the popular favor he was elected Sheriff of Somerset County, and served one term. Like his brother Walter he was of an amiable disposition, retiring in his habits, and fond of literary occupation.
