The article ends with...Last rites will be at the First Christian Church Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock. The Bonney-Watson Mortuary announced last night. Burial will be in Evergreen Park. Judge Gordon was born on a farm near Jacksonville, Ill., and was one of a family of three girls and four boys. His brother, Frank T. Gordon, who was a clerk in his court, recalled that John was "not much of a farm boy" preferring to read and study instead of work in the fields. Clerked in Law Office. When about 20 years old he went to business college at Jacksonville. On completion of his course he moved to Aurora, Neb., where he became clerk in the law office of his brother-in-law, A. W. Agee. Mr. Agee now is in law practice at Ogden, Utah. Judge Gordon moved to Seattle in 1889 and was admitted to the bar. He never attended law school, learning his law by studying at home and working in law offices. He was a Superior Court clerk for a few years here before being appointed police judge. Judge Gordon lived for the past ten years at 3116 35th Ave. S. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Maude Gordon, and two daughters, Mrs. Raymond R. Fry and Mrs. James Farrell, both of Seattle.
