Mary ("Mamie") Kirkpatrick was born in the town of Clifton, Grant County, Wisconsin, on 27 April 1872, the sixth child of William Dennis and Jeanette (Bacon) Kirkpatrick. She died at the age of 83 on 15 November 1955 at St Joseph's Hospital, Dodgeville, Iowa Co., Wisconsin. She married Fred W. Ludwig, 16 August 1893 in Grant County, Wisconsin. He was born in 1867 and died 13 April 1946. The couple engaged in farming in the Rewey/Platteville areas of Wisconsin until 1920 when they moved into the city of Platteville. Both Fred and Mary Ludwig are buried in the Kirkpatrick Cemetery, Rewey, Wisconsin.

Platteville---Mrs. Mary Ludwig, 83, a lifelong Rewey and Platteville area resident, died Monday night at a Dodgeville hospital after a two-month illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Thomas funeral home, Platteville. Burial will be in Kirkpatrick cemetery at Rewey.
