The Quincy Daily Journal, Quincy, Illinois, Wednesday, October 2, 1895, Page 4: Death of Dr. Dodge. The Proprietor of Baldwin Park Sanitarium, Yesterday Evening. Dr. Thomas Jefferson Dodge, proprietor of the Baldwin Park Sanitarium and recently the proprietor of the Riverside Sanitarium, at Hamilton, Illinois, died at 4:30 p.m. yesterday of a gastric ulcer of the stomach, with which he had been ailing since June 25th. Deceased was born in Fulton County, January 24th, 1844, and when about 18 years of age moved to McDonough County, where he married Caroline Atwater, who survives him. He was engaged in farming at that time, but afterward took to preaching, being of the Free Baptist faith. A year ago he joined the Methodist Church. In his younger days he wanted to be an infidel, but could never bring himself to it. Deceased leaves eleven children besides his wife. Two children are dead. He leaves $9, 000 life insurance, besides several quarter sections of Nebraska land. The remains will be buried at Hamilton tomorrow afternoon.

Glazebrook, of the firm of Guthrie & Glazebrook, was sent for to embalm the remains of Dr. T. J. Dodge, who died in Quincy at Dodge's Sanitarium. He left Wednesday evening for this place with the remains. Thursday at 2 p.m. services were held in the M. E. Church, and he was escorted to the churchyard burial ground by the K. P.s, Woodmen and Workmen societies. Quite a number in the procession came across the river.
