Thomas D. Dilts, son of Wilkinson Stine and Catherine (Newell) Dilts, was born 9 March 1831, West Liberty, Logan County, Ohio, and died 3 Jun 1914. On 3 March 1859 Thomas married Martha Louise Kirkpatrick at Lowell, Henry Co., Iowa. In 1864 they moved from Louisa County to Baltimore Township, Henry County, Iowa and in 1870 they moved to Jackson Township, Henry County.

There were four children born of the marriage.

The Daily Gate City, Keokuk, Iowa, Thursday, June 11, 1914, Page 5, Col. 3: Salem, Iowa. Thomas Dilts passed away at his home on West Main street, Thursday afternoon, after a lingering and painful illness. The deceased was bout eighty-two years of age, was a pioneer of Henry county and for many years an esteemed citizen of Salem. He is survived by his wife and three children, Mrs. Owen Garretson, Dr. John Dilts, Salem; Dr. William A. Dilts, Shenandoah. Funeral was held from the residence at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon. Services were conducted by Rev. C. W. Carson of Wayland, assisted by Rev. J. W. Stine. Interment was made in the east cemetery.
