Individual Details

Robert Alex Denton "A. D." Breazeale

(18 Apr 1858 - 5 Jul 1903)

Birth: Apr. 18, 1858 Iowa
Death: Jul. 5, 1903

Robert A Denton Breazeale, also known as A D Breazeale died at age 45 after being bedridden for six weeks of illness and a steady decline in health. A D and Flora Miller Breazeale had two children, a girl Mabel and a son Clifford Merle. Flora's brother Luther [William T. "Enoch"] Miller was married to A D's sister Emma Breazeale. Both couples had original roots in the Henry County, Iowa area.

There is much confusion about Mr. Breazeale's given name. It appears in the 1880 Census as "Denton" and in the 1900 Census it could be read as "Alex". The family members' names are the same so there may have been a spelling error during the enumeration but his name "Robert" was not often used as that was the name of his father, Robert Houston Breazeale.

After her husband's death, Flora Miller Breazeale married Luther B Thomas whom she may have previously known from the Henry County, Iowa area, and they lived in California. According to the California Death Index, Flora passed away May 11, 1941. Although her name is included on the grave stone at Elk City*, she was not interred there with her first husband.
