Harriet Kirkpatrick was born 8 February 1872 in McDonough County, Illinois, and died 23 December 1955, also in McDonough County. She married on 4 December 1890 in Schuyler County, Illinois, to Clement Daniel Gorsuch, who was born 8 August 1863 in Schuyler County and died 9 August 1947.
Harriet is the twin sister of Alice Jane Kirkpatrick
There were seven (7) children born of the marriage.
She is on the 1880 Census of Industry, McDonough, Illinois in the household of her uncle John Kirkpatrick. Her brothers Pary [Perry] and Benjamin are also in the household.
From Grandma Flack's Scrapbook, McDonough County Genealogical Society, Macomb, Illinois, 2001: Mrs. Harriett Gorsuch, 80, Of Littleton, Dies. Mrs. Harriett Gorsuch, 80, Littleton, died at 11:00 p.m. last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Beryl Montgomery, 925 E. Washington St. She had been ill for about three months. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Littleton Methodist Church. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery. Mrs. Gorsuch was born Feb. 8, 1872, in Industry Township, a daughter of James and Harriett Ogle Kirkpatrick. She spent all of her life in McDonough and Schuyler Counties and had resided in Littleton for the last 35 years. She was married Dec. 4, 1890, to Samuel C. Gorsuch, who died in 1947. She was a member of the Littleton Methodist Church. Survivors are: Five sons, Earl, Summum, James, Brooklyn, Otis, Littleton, Robert, Canton, and Daniel, Peoria; a daughter, Mrs. Montgomery; a half-brother, Frank Kirkpatrick, Table Grove; a half-sister, Mrs. Tillie Copley, Smithfield; 22 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Lena Shields, two brothers, Perry and Ben Kirkpatrick and a twin sister, died previously. The body will be moved from the Clugston Funeral Home to the Montgomery residence where friends may call after 7 p.m. this evening.
