Isabelle Brown, eldest daughter of William Lewis and Nora Jane Brown was born in York County, Nebraska, October 7, 1889 and passed away at her home in Gothenburg on August 3, 1956, having reached the age of 66 years, 10 months and 4 days.
With her parents she moved to Frontier County in 1906, where she lived until her marriage on February 14, 1912 to Chauncey Kirkpatrick of Lexington. To this union were born 2 sons and 1 daughter.
She pledged her membership in the Elwood Methodist Church when a very young girl and her faith remained constant throughout her life. In spite of severe physical handicaps brought on by arthritis, her cheerful disposition and constant interest in all those around her gave enjoyment and encouragement to all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Chauncey Kirkpatrick; 2 sons, Joseph O. of Ogallala, and Wayne L. of Gothenburg; a daughter, Mrs. Twilabelle Ray of Elsinore, California. Seven grandchildren, five sisters, four brothers and many other relatives, Lewis and Fulton Brown of Lexington; Hugh Brown of Holdrege; Don Brown in the Armed Forces in Japan; Pat Bohl of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Jo Caldwell of Denver, Colo.; Golda McClatchery and Blanche Churchill of York; and Virginia Cook of Vincennes, Indiana.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 6, 1956 at 2:30 at the McVay Chapel, with Rev. Lawrence Bratt officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Janice Baerkircher, with Mrs. Edna Kuhlman as pianist. Pallbearers were Ralph Mann, Roy Dillon, Luther Hendrickson, Roy Evans, Jack Ballmer, and George Duis. Interment in the Gothenburg Cemetery. McVay Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
