Buffalo News, Buffalo, New York, Jul 3, 1997: An American tourist was fatally shot while trying to help his friend during a botched robbery attempt in the Cambodian capital. Douglas Wayne Hosier, 36, was shot Wednesday night in the chest by a member of a gang that was trying to rob him and his companion, municipal police Chief Mok Chito said today. Hosier died immediately. His friend, who was not identified, was wounded. Hosier had been working in South Korea as an English teacher and arrived in Cambodia as a tourist 11 days earlier. He was originally from Illinois, but police did not know his hometown.
