Healdsburg Tribune, Enterprise and Scimitar, Healdsburg, California, July 2,1908, Front Page, Col. 2: Death of Former Resident. The remains of Dr. J. J. Piper, who died in Spokane on June 20th, were brought to Healdsburg last week, and the funeral was held from T, G. Young’s undertaking parlors Thursday. Rev. M. R. Wolfe officiating. He left Healdsburg about thirty years ago, after living here many years. Piper street was named in his honor. He became a prominent citizen of Spokane, serving as superintendent of schools, as a supervisor, and in other positions of trust. He was aged 78 years.
